Yousef Sahuri to those who knew him had an unequivocal passion for distilling spirits, a passion he worked hard on right until his passing.

He gave that passion a name: The Oriental Star.

Whether by chance or invention spirits have been around for the past two to six thousand years.
The Oriental Star has been around for less but it most certainly had an impact on the spirits market in the Middle East. Thanks to its founding father, Yousef , it became the first distillery in Jordan, and to be more specific in Al Ruseifeh.

The Sahuri distillery soon became known for its staples of Arak, cognac, brandy, wine and whiskey.

Years later Yousef’s passion was passed on to his children: Adel, his second son, assumed the mantle of head Sahuri distilling master.

With a degree of Physical Chemistry of Biological Organs from Göttingen University—that he got in 1966—Adel knew the ins and outs of distilling.
